January and February Reading List

I read.

Alot.

I typically keep a reading journal just in case I accidentally start reading the same book twice or if someone asks me for a good book recommendation I have something I can refer to. Since I already do the legwork of recording my readings, I might as well share them! This is what I have read so far this year:

No Sunscreen For The Dead by Tim Dorsey

The Alter Ego Effect: The Power of Secret Identities by Todd Herman

Annihilation (Southern Reach 1) By Jeff VanderMeer

Know Your Place: Essays on the Working Class by the Working Class by Nathan Connolly

A Geography of Unknown Lands: by Michael Swanwick*

Worst. Person. Ever. by Douglas Couplan

The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century by George Friedman

The Art of Strategy: A Game Theorist’s Guide to Success in Business and Life by Avinash K. Dixit and Barry J. Nalebuff

How to Kill a City: Gentrification, Inequality, and the Fight for the Neighborhood by P.E. Moskowitz

When to Rob a Bank: …And 131 More Warped Suggestions and Well-Intended Rants by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner

* I will try to mark my favorite book since some books are really noteworthy. For these past two months, Michael Swanwick’s A Geography of Unknown Lands really stuck with me. This is a collection of short stories, but each one felt like it fit in exceptionally well. One of my favorite short stories had to do with living on the edge of the world, and a group of teenagers that wanted to venture to the bottom of the edge. Overall, this collection of short stories really made me want to write my own short stories.

I started recording my readings when I made the goal of reading a set amount of pages by the end of the year (back in 2011). I do not have a set page number I want to hit this year, but if you are curious, I still track my pages read. So far, I am at 3,0433 pages!

I have listed the above books as Amazon affiliated links, so if you decide to buy a book using the above links, I may get a little kickback from Amazon.

I am also a proud Audible subscriber! Audio books are awesome, especially for those that might not have time to sit down and turn pages. If you want to sign up for audible click here! I get a little kickback for this as well, but I believe you get two free audio books if you start a trial!

If you use an e-reader like a kindle or your tablet, you can also get a free month of the Kindle Unlimited Membership plan by clicking here!

Let me know if you like this post and if you want to see more like it! If you have any questions about the books I posted, or want to discuss them with me, leave a comment!
